About
Tim Vest is the founder and principal of Mission Financial, where he serves as a strategic partner to churches seeking executive-level financial leadership. He brings extensive experience developed through senior finance roles at leading institutions including Yale University, the University of Richmond, and the Washington and Lee University School of Law. His work has focused on developing complex multi-fund operating budgets, building long-range financial models, and advising leadership on strategic financial decisions that support institutional growth and sustainability.
Tim has provided financial counsel on complex initiatives such as international campus expansion projects, new program development, and large-scale operational planning. He has led financial reporting and governance processes, strengthened internal controls, and helped leadership translate financial data into clear strategic insight.
Drawing on this background, Tim founded Mission Financial to provide churches with structured financial clarity, executive-level advisory support, and forward-looking financial planning typically associated with a Chief Financial Officer.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Connecticut State University, an MBA from the University of Connecticut, and a certificate in Higher Education Leadership from Harvard University.
Tim lives in Richmond, Virginia, with his wife, Andrea. He’s a proud dad to two great sons and is actively involved in his church community. He spends time restoring a vintage Alfa Romeo Spider, and is a Formula 1 and IndyCar enthusiast. Tim loves getting out on the Blue Ridge Parkway and Smith Mountain Lake whenever he gets the chance.
